Training Loop

Well.. I’ve got my bike fixed now, it’s now sporting a Shimano SLX rear Mech and LX shifters. Nice crisp and precise shifting.. Fantastic!!

Anyway, enough of that rubbish. My training for HTN 1.5 can now start. I’ve got a nice loop that passes my house, 4 miles long with a big drop down RMR to start off with, before dropping down past the old  Turner Bros Asbsestos factory, a climb up through Woodland Drive to the Healey Dell bridalway.

A pootle along the bridalway, before turning left and the ride up past Spring Mill Reservoir, through Prickshaw Village and Lane Head.

Sunday ride – 40 minutes, with 2 minutes breather time.

My target by the end of January is to be able to complete 3-4 laps in 2 hours and a lap time of 30-35 minutes.

Weight loss so far – 7lbs in 3 weeks.

Target weight 189 lbs, 10 more to go!

HTN 1.5 Preview Ride

Saturday saw the preview ride for Hit The North 1.5.

A number of riders met at the car park near the venue for a quick lap or two around the course.

I soon discovered it was slightly less flat than i’d expected and was quickly at the back for the climbs.

I was quite pleased with my progress, but disaster struck in the form of a mashed rear mech and hanger, resulting in lack of gears and a very slippy chain. So I decided the best thing to do was to sit out the rest of the lap, a huge disappointment, but at least I have an idea of what to expect for race day.

Action Plan –

Order Rear Mech – Shimano SLX Shadow – Done

Order Shifters      – Shimano LX 580 2-Way – Done

Get Fit!!

The parts should arrive tomorrow so hopefully the training can start in ernest and I can hope to complete a number of laps in Feb.
